Pippa has been training with Jackie for 4 months during which time her
muscles have developed as well as her fighting skills. Jackie now
decides that it's time for Pippa to have her first real fight in a real
ring. So she contacts Claude, an old friend and experienced
Referee, to fix up a fight for Pippa. Claude gets in touch with Soo Lan, a Mongolian woman who runs a group of Asian fighters. Soo suggests a match against Mai Ling, a Chinese girl who has recently joined her group and who is also looking for her first fight. So Claude arranges the fight and hires the Pit for a late night session in the middle of the week when the place is empty. It is just gone midnight when Soo Lan and Jackie escort their two fighter down into the Pit where Claude, who is acting as the Referee, is already waiting. Both girls are visibly nervous as they climb between the ropes and enter the ring for their first real fight. Claude now formally introduces the combatants as if the fight were in front of an audience. "On my right from Xian, China at 5 ft 7 in and 140 lb - Mai Ling!" "On my left from Buffalo, USA at 5 ft 8 in and 142 lb - Pippa!" |

Mai Ling whispers urgently to Soo Lan looking at Pippa anxiously. "Hey Ref!" calls Soo, "We agreed to a topless, bare foot kick boxing fight and Jackie's girl is wearing a top and trainers!" |

Jackie lays her arm comfortingly on Pippa's shoulder as Claude and Soo
enter into a discussion about the rules of the fight. "I'll go and help sort it out Pippa!" says Jackie as she walks round to join Soo and Claude. A couple of minutes later it is agreed that Soo is in the right and that Claude had agreed to a topless kick boxing match. So Claude asks Pippa to take off her top and her trainers. |

A couple of minutes later Claude brings the two topless girls together in the
centre of the ring. "OK Girls listen up!" barks Claude. "This is
to be a 10 minute kick boxing match without any breaks. The winner
will be determined by a knock-out to a count of 10 or by a Referee's
decision. I want a good clean fight and when I say break - you
break!" Both girls nod their agreement. "OK - go back to your corners and when I give the word come out fighting!" |

As the two fighters turn to return to their corners Claude calls out "You two coaches must now leave the Pit!" Jackie waits until Pippa is back in her corner, then she affectionately pats her fighter on the shoulder and climbs out of the Pit immediately followed by Soo Lan. |

Claude calls the start of the fight and the two girls dash into the centre of the ring and immediately start to box. Mai Ling is eager to land a hard punch really quickly and her fists fly at Pippa like a swarm of bees. But Jackie has trained Pippa well on defensive tactics. As Pippa dodges and weaves away from Mai Ling's fists she slams the Chinese girl's torso with several hard jabs that leave Mai Ling grunting in pain. |
