We return to the story of Crazy Maggie
and Jan de Breck that we last visited in part 8.
Our story has moved on a year or so and Jan and Maggie are now married
and are living in a covered wagon touring the territories of southern
Africa. They are earning a living by guiding trekkers into the
interior of the country from the coast and also by Maggie fighting in
clandestine night time events usually held near to rail workers camps.
We join our couple at such an event outside the town of Votterburg where
the railroad construction company has a large camp for its workers.
Maggie and Jan have set up an arena outside the camp where Maggie has
challenged any woman to wrestle her with a prize of $100 for any woman
who can beat her. While the construction workers are nearly all
men the camp is also home to nearly 100 women camp-followers, so there
are plenty of women who fancy their chances of beating Maggie and
winning a $100. Here are the first six pages from each of the two fights featured in
the story. Enjoy!
